ALBANY — The Albany Police Department Gang Unit arrested another individual Thursday evening in connection to a shooting incident on Willard Avenue last week, Albany police officials said.
Ramail Thomas, 17, was arrested on four counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in connection to a shooting at 514 Willard Ave. on June 7, an Albany Police Department spokesperson said.
Thomas was arrested at about 7 p.m. on the 200 block of West Tift Avenue, according to APD.
Reports said that a white Range Rover, which was abandoned and recovered the next day after it had been reported stolen out of Florida, was involved in the shooting that took place on June 7. Officers responded to a call in reference to discharging firearms at 5:22 p.m., and upon arrival, shell casings were found in the road and impact sites were visible on the exterior of the Willard Avenue residence, police officials said.
“At 514 Willard, there were at least five markings on the exterior wall consistent with being hit by bullets,” Officer Jonathan Lee wrote in his report on the incident. “There were three on the northwest corner of the residence, one north-center at the eve of the roof, and one in the front door.”
Lee wrote that the bullet that struck the front door went all the way through the residence.
“The round that hit the front door traveled south through the entire house, out the south end of the residence,” Lee wrote. “Three rounds hit the northwest bedroom. There were two paths that lead to the southwest bedroom. One spent round was located in the southwest bedroom in the east wall. It is unknown the location of the other two rounds.”
Resident Melissa Boone was at home during the assault, according to reports. She told police she was in the living room when her house was hit with multiple rounds.
Albany police officials said that, on June 9, Jessie Lunsford, 20, had been taken into custody regarding the shooting. Lunsford was expected to face four charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, with additional charges pending.
Anyone with additional information about the case is asked to call the APD at (229) 431-2100 or Albany Area Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477).
