ALBANY— High winds and heavy rain associated with a sudden thunderstorm caused three power outages in Albany on Tuesday night.

“All of the power outages happened between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., and all power was restored within three hours,” said Monique Broughton Knight, the city of Albany’s public information officer.

Knight said six Albany Utility trucks were sent out in response to the outages.

“Our crews were sent out immediately and worked hard to get power restored quickly,” she said. “At this time, it is unknown how many residents or businesses lost power during the outages.”

A large tree fell in the city’s Lake Park area in northwest Albany, crossing three power lines. Power outages also occurred along North Cleveland Street and from Seventh to 11th avenues in Albany.

No injuries were reported. City officials said all of the power problems were due to a sudden thunderstorm that rolled through Albany just as many residents were returning home from work.
