Lee County’s Ty Terrell reopens recruiting process
Receiver decommits from Ball State

LEESBURG — A spectacular season capped by a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the GHSA Class 6A championship game has caused one of Lee County’s senior football players to reopen his recruiting process.
Ty Terrell, who committed to Ball State prior to his senior season, posted Sunday night on social media that he was reopening his recruiting process.
“First off I wanna thank the Ball State family for recruiting me and giving me a chance to play Division I football at an amazing place,” Terrell wrote on Twitter. “As it’s getting closer and closer, and after talking to my family and taking time out for myself, I’ve decided to decommit from Ball State University. I’m reopening my recruitment.
“This is the path God is putting in front of me, so I’m just following the way. Please respect my decision! God bless.”
Terrell, an Albany Herald all-area first team pick, caught 78 passes for 1,280 yards and nine touchdowns, helping the Trojans win their first state title and the first GHSA championship for any metro Albany team in 19 years.
He was one of five Lee County players to commit to Division I programs last summer. One, defensive back Kermit Solomon, signed Wednesday with Mercer at the start of the early signing period.
Defensive back Otis Reese, the Albany Herald Player of the Year, committed to Michigan but is also drawing interest from Georgia. Offensive lineman Griffin McDowell committed to Mississippi State, and defensive back T.J. Harris committed to Troy.
Lee County head coach Dean Fabrizio said he expects more than a dozen players to sign when the traditional signing period begins in February.
