Irwin County baseball clips Baconton Charter

The Pelham baseball team rolled to a 16-1 win over Webster County on Friday.
Pelham scored four runs in the second, seven in the third and five in the fourth to secure the victory.
Gunner Wisham and Noah Russ each had three hits and four RBI for Pelham. Russ and Dakota McEntyre each scored three runs. Payne Hunter had a double, while Cale Whigham had a triple.
Wisham was the winning pitcher, allowing one run on three hits while striking out five and walking two.
Irwin County 4, Baconton Charter 3
Baconton Charter scored a run in the top of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough to catch Irwin County’s baseball team Saturday.
Stone Pinson went 3-for-4 for Baconton, while Spencer Culp, Grant Smithwick and Will Bush each adding two hits. Bush took the loss.
Terrell Academy 6, Crisp Academy 5
Terrell Academy claimed a GISA Region 3-2A baseball victory Friday at home.
Ethan Gay hit a two-run homer to right field in the third inning. Quintard Wright and Garrett Sloan also drove in runs.
Cameron Jones and Garrett Sloan shared the pitching load in the victory over the Wildcats.
Shaw 9, Westover 2
A four-run first inning set the tone for Shaw’s baseball victory Friday.
Davis Spalinger took the loss.
Fullington 16, Sherwood Christian 1
Fullington scored in each of the four innings played in the GICAA baseball contest Friday.
Logan Brooks went 2-for-2 for Sherwood, while Patrick Burke picked up a double. Colin Dougherty took the loss.
Cook 12-15, Worth County 6-2
Cook claimed victories over Worth County’s baseball team on back-to-back days.
Friday, Cook scored runs in each of the first six innings.
Cason King and David Jordan each had three hits for Worth County. King, DJ Edwards and Worth Smith each had doubles. Jeremiah Reddell took the loss.
Thursday, Cook jumped on Worth County early, scoring 13 runs in the first inning.
Edwards and Jack Fletcher each had two hits for Worth County. Griffin Melton took the loss.
