LEESBURG — Rick Muggridge of the Family Insurance Agency is not your average insurance agent. He has found a way to incorporate his experience as a salesman and his love of family into one operation that allows him to combine what he’s good at and what he loves into a way to help other people.

“I have a desire to help people, and I have always sold things all my life,” Muggridge said. “So as I explored all the opportunities for business, insurance was a way that I could help people, but I didn’t have to have any inventory. I didn’t have to buy any stoves or cars or houses or lumber, it was a store that could help people, but there was no inventory cost so the business appealed to me.”

Muggridge spent 20 years working for a direct writer representing a single insurance company. He said he enjoyed his time there, but felt that his opportunities were limited because of the restrictions that came with working with only one source of insurance. As an independent agent, he has the freedom to shop the market to find what would best serve his customers.

The Family Insurance Agency works with its customers step-by-step to find the right policy for them. The agency takes the time to make sure that the customer understands what their coverage options are and what it means for them, including how to balance the coverage the customer needs with what is within his or her budget.

Muggridge said the company works to help customers who may have had difficulties with other companies or agencies because of their driving record or payment history and to offer the same level of support as they would with someone who may have never had an accident. He said Family Insurance loves doing business with people from all walks of life and even encourages people to feel comfortable to stop by and drop their payments off in person.

What sets the Family Insurance Agency apart from the flashy, name-brand insurance companies that advertise on television is that they can provide a feeling of family for their customers.

“Our mission is to treat other people the same exact way we would treat our mother or our brother if they were in the exact same situation,” Muggridge said. “That’s kind of my creed.”

The Family Insurance agency offers customers a personal, family experience when it comes to insuring their cars, their homes and even their lives.

The agency is located west of Slappey Boulevard at 1148 Dawson Road. The agency can be contacted at (229) 420-7777.
