Cotton Hall Theater in Colquitt releases schedule for 2024 season

COLQUITT – Cotton Hall Theater, home of Georgia’s Official Folk-Life Play “Swamp Gravy,” has announced its full slate of performances for the coming year.

First up is “Legally Blonde: The Musical.” Based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture, “Legally Blonde” tells the story of Elle Woods, whose life is turned upside-down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law.

Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school. It’s only when she’s put to the test that Elle realizes how much more she has inside.

Filled with a vibrant pop score and a whole lot of pink, “Legally Blonde” is sure to be a fun friend’s night out. Tickets for “Legally Blonde” are $22, and the show is rated PG-13 for language and content. The musical will run May 3, 4, 10 and 11.

The weekend after “Legally Blonde,” Cotton Hall will be host to the Briar Patch Music Festival. Featuring food trucks, concessions, and music from 3-11 p.m., Briar Patch is a great way to kick off the summer with some fun in the sun. Briar Patch is scheduled for May 18.

Then in June, the sun will come out for the youth theater production of “Annie JR.” Join Annie and Sandy as they foil Miss Hannigan’s scheme and find a true family with billionaire Oliver Warbucks.

“Annie JR.” is bursting with optimism and pluck and is great for audiences young and old. It will run June 14, 15, 21 and 22. Tickets are $12.

In August, it’s time to pull out your detective kit and solve the case in “Murder, Ahoy! A Nautical Murder Mystery.”

This year’s murder mystery will look a bit different than previous years as the dinner portion of the evening will take place in the commons area outside the theater with general admission seating, before the audience is moved to their assigned seats in the theater for the performance.

The dinner menu will include shrimp and grits before departure. Come hop on this cruise ship and be sure not to fall overboard on Aug. 16, 17, 23 and 24. Tickets are $25 and include dinner.

If you love to dance, the CMAC Fall Affair is right up your alley. This year’s theme is the Boot Scoot ‘N Boogie, featuring dinner, dancing, a silent auction and a donation bar.

The Fall Affair is one of CMAC’s biggest fundraisers of the year, and this year, there will even be a mechanical bull. The Boot Scoot ‘N Boogie will be Sept. 21. Tickets are $35.

October will see the return of “Swamp Gravy: Iron & Lace,” an exploration of local stories about strong women, motherhood, and what it takes to survive when trouble shows up on your own front porch.

Featuring new music and stories every year, Swamp Gravy continues the tradition of celebrating our ever-changing Southern identity. “Iron & Lace runs” Oct. 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26. Tickets are $22.
