LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Former educator supports Carolyn Hand

Dear Editor, 

As a 45-year public school educator and former principal of Albany High School, I am endorsing Carolyn Hand for the upcoming election of Dougherty County School Board, District 1.

Carolyn worked effectively in the Dougherty County School System for 38 years: eight years as a Social Science teacher, 10 years as administrative assistant and 20 years as director of Human Resources.

She brings excellent education credentials to this position with a B.S. degree in Education from Florida A&M, a master’s in administration from Albany State, a specialist in Administration from the University of Georgia, and an educational doctorate degree from South Carolina State University.

She and her husband, Bobby, are proud parents of two boys who attended our local schools and are graduates of the Dougherty County School System.

Serving as the DCSS director of Human Resources for 20 years, Carolyn had a wonderful working relationship with board members, superintendents, teachers, and administrators, based on mutual respect, collegiality, and a joint commitment to student success. She exemplified a positive attitude, ability to multitask and exhibited strong leadership skills, solid written and verbal communication skills and good problem-solving skills.

I believe Dr. Carolyn Hand is the person best qualified to serve as District 1 Dougherty County School Board member.
