Squawkbox – July 4, 2026

Regarding the changes to the Squawkbox, there is an old adage that applies:”If it ain’t broke,don’t fix it.”

Lee County officials encountered a screw-up with their taxes, but they still are a whole lot better than the Dougherty officials, who, if in similar circumstances, would have looked for a way to keep that money for themselves.

Bo and Preacher Lorenzo and his disciples should reflect on why it is so difficult to start an honest family business here. Yet, apparently it is very easy to drop a dirty freight container and a porta-potty to open an eyesore fireworks store. Or dump an old coffee shop in a highly visible patch of grass until it begins to rot. Or yet another pawn shop /vape/shady cellphone store. Or a liquor store right next door to another liquor store.

I fully agree with Boomer Esiason when on his radio show interview this week with Caitlin Clark he spoke of the lack of officials calling fouls and the attitude of the league as a whole. Caitlin should take her talents overseas. She would be treated like royalty and make a lot more money.

When asked to pull up and wait for your order at a drive-thru, just refuse and say you’ll wait right there for your order. These folks are trying to make a window count, and they must learn we are not all studpid. Has anyone ever been asked to do that at Chick-fil-A?

I would hope that the Herald powers that be would realize that there are a number of state and national issues that impact our region directly. I would hope commenting on such issues would not be verboten under the new world order.

People who call themselves Christian leaders — from rich “preachers” at mega-churches to “bishops” at local churches — and preach politics from the altar, no matter what brand it is, are breaking the law and should lose their nonprofit status.

Pedophiles, whether they’re located right next door or occupy the highest of government offices, should be arrested and put in prisons where what they did to innocent children against their will is done to them.

Until these phony preachers/politicins and their pals with their hands out and the officials who blindly follow them are removed from our local government, we will continue to see our tax dollars wasted or given to cronies who offer nothing but ways to help themselves.

If you like socialism, open borders, high crime, men in women’s sports, high taxes, defunded police and don’t like private healthcare, vote Democrat.

When a Democrat loses, it’s because of race and/or gender. When a Republican loses, it’s because the election was stolen. If Democrats could steal elections, they’d have control of the White House and both houses of Congress. Both parties need to stop playing the blame game when they lose. That Man Without a Family
