Super Saturday sales for last-minute holiday gift shoppers

According to our survey, most Americans will have at least begun their Christmas shopping by early December. But shoppers still may find themselves at stores in the final days before Christmas, picking up final gifts or even completing their entire shopping list in one frenetic, down-to-the-wire shopping marathon.

Super Saturday (Dec. 22 this year) is the last Saturday before Christmas and a significant day for retailers who want to drum up as much last-minute holiday business as possible. Some therefore offer sales and deals that day (and the entire weekend).

Since it’s too late to order online and have a package arrive on time for Christmas, Super Saturday is primarily an in-store shopping event. If you prefer to shop online, plenty of stores let you buy online and then pick up your order in a store (as soon as the same day). In fact, Old Navy is even providing free round-trip lift rides to those who buy online and pick up in stores on Super Saturday (see details below).

Here are some stores offering sales on Super Saturday weekend 2018:

Amazon: Amazon, although it’s an online retailer, makes the list simply because it has extended its Prime free two-day shipping deadline for Christmas delivery until Super Saturday (Dec. 22). Note that you’re still risking late delivery, especially if you rely on a mailing room that’s closed Christmas Eve. See Amazon’s last-minute holiday deals. It’s even repeating its Black Friday pricing on the 2nd generation Echo Dot and the Fire HD 8 Tablet.

Big Lots: The last-minute holiday sale features up to 50% off select toys, electronics, blankets and more, through the weekend while supplies last.

BJ’s: The warehouse club is offering $5 off orders over $100 if you buy online using this promo code and pick up in store.

Costco: Costco members can get plenty of last-minute in-store deals the weekend before Christmas, including $80 off the iRobot Roomba e6 6198 Wi-Fi Connected Robot Vacuum, through Dec. 24 (while supplies last). Plus, shop the Holiday Gift Event online and pick up your items at the club. The event, which runs through Dec. 24, includes TVs, toys, gaming consoles, smartwatches and more.

GameStop: Shop the Game Days sale through Dec. 25. Because it’s too late to ship in time for Christmas delivery, order online and pick up at your nearest store (store availability may vary, especially in the final days). Deals in the sale include a free $25 GameStop Gift card when you buy the Nintendo Switch, up to 50% off games, $100 off Xbox One consoles and $100 off all PSVR bundles.

Kohl’s: Save 20% when you spend $100 or more through Dec. 24. Use this code if shopping online (note that you’ll need to pick up in store if you want your item before Christmas). Or, visit the Kohl’s website for a coupon and barcode you can present in store.

Michaels: The latest weekly print ad has a coupon good for 50% off any regular priced item, valid through Super Saturday.

Old Navy: Old Navy is getting particularly creative with its Super Saturday sale this year, offering free Lyft rides. On Saturday Dec. 22, Old Navy is offering free roundtrip Lyft rides to and from Old Navy stores for customers who buy online and pick up in store. See more info. As for deals awaiting shoppers, all items are currently up to 75% off. Plus on Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 22 and 23), customers who buy online and pick up in store will receive a free gift-wrap set including wrapping paper and gift tags.

Office Depot/Office Max: Get up to 50% off select items through Dec. 22. Other last-minute deals in the leadup to Christmas include:

Petco: Through Christmas, get up to 50% off sitewide. Because you’ll likely need to pick up your order to get it in time for Christmas, Petco is sweetening the deal by offering another 10% off when you buy online and pick up in store.

PetSmart: Through Dec. 24, get 50% off holiday dog treats and chews, and buy-one-get-one-50%-off pricing on holiday toys. Plus, Friday, Dec. 21 through Monday, Dec. 24, get 10% off your purchase when they buy online and pick up in store.

Target: Target is releasing plenty of deals for last-minute shoppers that run until Super Saturday. If you’ve missed the online shipping cutoff off Dec. 20 at 11:55 p.m. CST, you can order online and pick up in store. Just a few of the last-minute deals include a $25 gift card when you buy a Nintendo Switch, $50 off the Apple Watch Series 3 and $80 off 6th generation iPads.

T-Mobile: The carrier is running a last-minute holiday deal. Get the iPhone XR or Samsung Galaxy S9 for free (via 36 monthly bill credits) when you activate two lines and trade in an eligible device. There is no end date on this promotion, but it’s limited-time only.

World Market: Savings for Super Saturday weekend include 25% off holiday food gifts, 30% of body gift sets and 40% off holiday wrap. To maximize your Super Saturday savings, use this code when checking out online and pick up your order in store, and get an extra 10% off.
