Albany native assumes command position ad Dobbins Air Reserve Base in September ceremony

MARIETTA – Lt. Col. Renata Turner took command of the 94th Mission Support Group during a change of command ceremony on Sept. 7, 2024 at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Georgia.

The 94th Mission Support Group supports the 94th Airlift Wing in executing C-130H3 global employment in tactical, theater, and combat airlift support across the spectrum of military cargo, personnel, airdrop and aeromedical evacuation operations. The wing maintains deployable agile combat support units ready to execute on short notice to Combatant Command, Department of Defense, and North Atlantic Treaty Organization operations.

As the commander of the 94th Mission Support Group, Turner commands a 900-member organization consisting of the civil engineer/host base civil engineer, communications, logistics readiness, security forces, force support, and two aerial port squadrons comprised of traditional reservists, Air Reserve technicians, active guard reservists, federal civil service employees, and host base contractors.

She manages a $13 million budget and advises and provides direct support to wing leaders and area partners that include the Navy, Marines, and Georgia Army & Air National Guard.

An Albany native, Turner is a 1999 graduate of Dougherty Comprehensive High School. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from Fayetteville State University and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in 2003 upon completion of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC). She is the daughter of Arthur L. Turner of Byromville, Georgia, and Willie L. Turner of Elko, Georgia.
