LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Newly appointed Judge Dent committed to state justice system

To the Editor:

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to extend congratulations to Joseph W. Dent of Joseph W. Dent, P.C., in Albany on his appointment by Gov. Brian Kemp to serve as a Superior Court judge for the Dougherty Judicial Circuit, covering Dougherty County.

Judge Dent will be well served by his 32 years of experience in the legal profession, practicing civil litigation with concentrations in insurance defense, personal injury, collections/creditor’s rights/bankruptcy, zoning and land use and real estate and commercial litigation. He has also worked in employment law, fiduciary litigation, criminal law and mediation services. He serves the legal profession as a member of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Georgia and is a past president of the State Bar’s Young Lawyers Division and past chair of the State Bar’s Disciplinary Board.

By accepting this appointment, Judge Dent demonstrates his continued commitment to serving the public and the justice system. We wish him well in this capacity of judicial leadership.
