LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Head injury procedure is unregulated, unsafe

To the Editor:

Hello. I wanted to alert your readers that may have had the procedure called ECT/electroshock, that there is a national product liability suit around ECT devices.

One of the experts for plaintiffs in this case is the NFL expert who identified CTE in NFL head injuries. There are systemic risks both long- and short-term for electrical trauma that you were not warned of in consent in addition the repeated brain injuries resulting from ECT now proved in the courts.

I encourage persons who’ve had the procedure to contact the Baum/Wisner law firm in California engaged in the product suit to see if you qualify. There are articles on the Mad in America, ectjustice.net, and ectjustice.com sites.

We need to expose the harm of this unregulated practice that has greatly increased and has no FDA testing for safety or effectiveness. There is an increased risk for suicide after ECT because many cannot get the brain injury assistance they need.

It seems better to protect a physician over meeting the needs of a patient.
