The days are getting shorter as we move toward the winter solstice, but that doesn’t mean staying in the house. There’s plenty to do, and some of this weekends events are better in the dark, like Chehaw’s Festival of Lights display.

Monroe St.The 2022 Jingle Bell Jog 10 k, 5k and mile fun walk will raise money for an expansion that will double the bed capacity in the Phoebe Putney Health System’s 22-county service region.Race packets may be picked up at Phoebe Healthworks, 311 Third Ave., from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday. The three-deep awards will be awarded to participants in a variety of age categories.
When: Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 4:30 p.m.Where: Sherwood Baptist Church, 2201 Whispering Pines Road.Sherwood will present the Wonder Christmas Concert with its choir and orchestra for two days.At 4:30 there will be family activities, including photo booths, crafts and games, with a 4:30 pre-show event at 5:30 with more games and prizes for children 3 and older. The concert starts at 6 p.m.No tickets are required.
