SAVANNAH — Celebrity chef and Albany native Paula Deen’s professional life continues to be a whirlwind, so she’s looking for a simpler life in Savannah by placing her riverfront home there — Riverbend — up for sale.

And if you’re interested in the 5.5-acre property that includes a 14,500-square-foot custom-built French Caribbean main house, get ready to write some zeroes on that check. The asking price is $12.5 million.

“Paula is putting her Savannah home on the market,” Deen’s publicist, Jaret T. Keeler with Key Group Worldwide, said in an email. “Her travel schedule has been extremely hectic with her new projects. She is rapidly expanding her restaurant business … more to come around the country. Plus, she recently launched her new digital network and mobile game.”

Deen’s new restaurant, Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen near Pigeon Forge, Tenn., recently opened after her all-digital network launched last fall. Keeler said that “several entertainment projects in development” have her regularly visiting Los Angeles and New York City. In addition, she’s spending time in Minnesota for her EVINE shows.

All that traveling has Deen looking at New York City apartments for a potential second home.

“When Paula is in Savannah, she wants an easier and simpler life,” Keeler said. “She can’t wait to find, renovate and design her next home.”

Riverbend, which includes 300 feet on the Wilmington Island River at Savannah, is listed with Seabolt Brokers LLC/Christie’s International Real Estate. In addition to the main house, the estate, located close to historic Savannah, has a barn, two guest cottages and a dock house.

“This entire property is its own private resort,” Keeler said.

The main home includes a main living area; exercise room; three-car garage; pool with a “dive-in” movie theater; a professional gourmet kitchen with commercial-grade appliances; a large English butler’s pantry; a media room with movie screen and projector; a large master suite overlooking the river; a study aviary; a saltwater fish tank, and an outdoor kitchen with four refrigerators, three grills, a smoker and an electric oven.

The acreage is secured and gated with a stocked half-acre pond, a koi pond, a croquet court and a chicken coup. Its 10,000-square-foot, three-bedroom barn has an eight-car garage.
