ALBANY — Dougherty County police are investigating a “smash and grab” robbery Wednesday on Sylvester Road.

Police officials say that a surveillance video shows two black men using sledge hammers to break the Plexiglas door of Pitt Stop, 3225 Sylvester Road, around 1:30 a.m.

Capt. Chad Kirkpatrick, lead investigator with the Dougherty County Police Department, said one of the robbers was dressed in a green-striped hoodie with white shorts, while the other wore a dark hoodie and dark shorts.

According to Kirkpatrick, the two men made off with an estimated $200 in cigars and cigarettes.

“We have no arrests or leads at this time,” Kirkpatrick said, “so we need some help from the public.”

Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call the Dougherty County Police Department at (229) 430-6600 or Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477) for a possible reward.
