Edward Waters ends Albany State winning streak; Lady Rams rally for win
The winning streak ends at four.
ALBANY – Edward Waters University pulled away early in the second half to break a close game wide open and end Albany State’s four-game winning streak with a 74-64 victory Monday night at Albany State West Arena. The Golden Rams struggled offensively, hitting just 36% from the field and making only three of 22 three-point attempts.
The men’s game was tightly contested in the first half, with neither team able to build a significant lead. The Tigers carried a slim 37-35 edge into halftime but came out strong after the break. A 17-6 run, capped by Prince Davies’ steal and layup with 14:32 remaining, put Edward Waters ahead 54-41. The Tigers stretched their lead to 61-43 before the Golden Rams began to claw back, but the deficit proved too much to overcome.

G’Shan Aldridge led Albany State with 17 points, while Blaise Wallace added 14 and Shakur Poteat scored 13. The loss drops the Golden Rams to 9-7 overall and 6-3 in the SIAC.
In the women’s game, the Lady Golden Rams mounted a second-half rally to secure a 57-50 win. Trailing 27-18 at halftime, Albany State came alive in the third quarter. Keyra Peterson sparked the comeback with back-to-back jump shots, followed by key baskets from Johanna Bell and Na’Haviya Paxton. India McIntosh tied the game at 36-36 with a layup, and the Lady Rams closed the quarter on a 22-10 run to take a 40-37 lead. Edward Waters never regained the advantage in the final period.
