ALBANY – The 2026 King Day Program and Dream Walk, a deeply meaningful community commemoration dedicated to honoring the life, leadership and transformational legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. will take place on Jan. 19 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Albany.

The program will begin at 10 a.m., and the unity march will follow at noon. Event planners invite the entire community to walk together in remembrance, solidarity, and hope.

This year’s commemoration carries special significance as J.T. Johnson will serve as the keynote speaker. Johnson is a distinguished civil rights leader, a former advisor to King, and a participant in the historic St. Augustine Swim-in protests, one of the most powerful acts of nonviolent resistance during the Civil Rights Movement.

Johnson’s eye-witness perspective and enduring commitment to justice promise to offer both inspiration and a compelling call to action for all who attend.

The King Day Program and Dream Walk is rooted in community empowerment and shared purpose. Those who walk honor King’s vision of a beloved community grounded in justice, equality and mutual love. This event is free and open to the public, reflecting a commitment to accessibility and inclusion. In addition, voter registration will be
available onsite, reaffirming the civil rights martyr’s belief in civic participation as a cornerstone of meaningful change.
