ALBANY — The Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office invites the community to join them for the annual “Building Unity in the Community” Barbecue on Sept. 28 at Riverfront Park, located at 112 North Front St. The event will take place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

This year’s celebration holds special significance as it will also commemorate the upcoming retirement of Sheriff Kevin Sproul.

The event is an opportunity to further strengthen the relationship between Dougherty County citizens and law enforcement officers, fostering a sense of unity and cooperation. In addition to enjoying barbecue, attendees will have access to resources and information provided by local organizations, promoting safety and awareness.

Last year, more than 1,000 citizens were served, and officials say they anticipate an even greater turnout this year as they honor Sproul and continue the office’s commitment to building trust within the community.
