THOMASVILLE — Shoppers are invited to groove and indulge in some retail therapy at the city of Thomasville’s First Friday Sip & Shop Friday. From 6-8 p.m., shoppers can enjoy extended shopping hours and delectable dining from local restaurants and area food trucks, with a free concert at the Ritz Amphitheater from 8-10 p.m.
“Our First Friday Sip & Shop events are something our community looks forward to each month, especially as the weather gets cooler,” city Main Street Manager Brandy Avery said in a news release. “They serve as great opportunities to show some love to our local businesses by shopping and dining with them.”
Shops and restaurants are rolling out the red carpet with “Shop the Block” discounts and special offers that will keep shoppers’ wallets happy all night long. A list of discounts can be found on the Downtown Thomasville Facebook page.
Special Events Manager Nicole Elwell said there’s even more First Friday fun than usual to enjoy this month. Musician Kyle Parker is bringing live music to the streets of Thomasville from 6-8 p.m.
“With the addition of street entertainment, we want to create a more festive spirit,” Elwell said. “When music lingers through our downtown streets, people have more reasons to celebrate and get out and explore our city.”
This month’s main concert features Blues Hall of Fame inductee Mac Arnold and his band Plate Full O’ Blues. Arnold is known as the real deal when it comes to playing the blues, serving up a mix of classic favorites and original tunes. The band will take the stage at the Ritz Amphitheater from 8-10 p.m.
Attendees also can pick up a free arm band from any participating business and enjoy an adult beverage throughout the downtown area. For more information, visit thomasvillega.com or call the Thomasville Visitors Center at (229) 228-7977.
