ALBANY — The cooler winter days will be heating up for southwest Georgians looking for entertainment, as the Oak View Group has something for everyone lined up at Flint River Entertainment Complex venues in the Good Life City.

OVG announced this week that vocalist Eric Moore will pay tribute to Albany-born Ray Charles with a compilation of R&B, gospel and jazz in “A Tribute to Ray Charles” on Jan. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Albany Municipal Auditorium. Comedian James Murray, from truTV’s “Impractical Jokers,” will perform on Sunday at the Municipal Auditorium, and pictures with Santa, hot chocolate with fixins’, DIY ornaments, and “The Muppet Christmas Carol” movie will be part of an evening of fun at the Municipal Auditorium on Friday.

And, lest anyone think sports fans are being left out, the Flint River Entertainment Complex, in conjunction with the city of Albany Recreation and Parks Department, is set to host a three-day middle school basketball tournament at the Albany Civic Center featuring middle schools from south Georgia. The event is set for December 18-20.

Eric Moore has appeared in numerous productions, including Tyler Perry’s, “I Can Do Bad All by Myself.” He has worked as a vocalist, songwriter, and musical producer for more than 20 years, including a 40-city tour with “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County,” produced by Stephen King & John Mellencamp, in which his rendition of “Tear This Cabin Down” drew standing ovations.

Murray, known to fans as “Murr,” will bring his standup tour to the Municipal Auditorium for an evening of laughter that promises to involve audience members.

Sponsored by Smile Doctors, South GA TV/CBS 44 and the Albany Area Arts Council, Friday’s Movie Night activities will begin at 6 p.m. in the Albany Area Arts Council building and move to the Municipal Auditorium at 7:15 p.m. for the movie. All activities are free, and concessions will be available for purchase.
