ALBANY — What says holiday celebration better than donning your ugliest Christmas sweater and listening to two of the area’s most original bands?

Southwest Georgians will have that opportunity Friday when Icons downtown presents the first Ugly Sweater Jam, featuring the G&S Experience and Cut ‘n’ Run. The unique event will benefit the local Salvation Army.

Ugly Christmas sweaters have become — sometimes unwittingly — a staple of the holiday season, and local music fans are invited to embrace the ugly and wear their worst sweater to Icons for the holiday celebration. There, they’ll enjoy the rock/jazz fusion sound of the G&S Experience and the straight-on rock and roll of Cut ‘n’ Run.

Each of the co-headliners will play a set during the jam, then join forces for a final set.

In addition to a night of fun and music, attendees will help the local Salvation Army in its efforts to assure all local kids have a merry Christmas. Admission to the Ugly Sweater Jam is $10 plus a new, unwrapped toy. Without the toy, admission is $15.

All toys will be distributed by the Salvation Army to local children who might not otherwise have an opportunity to join in the celebration of the season. A portion of the admission will also be donated to the Salvation Army to help in its daily efforts to care for the community’s less fortunate.

For additional information about the show at Icons, which is located at 104 N. Washington St., visit the Ugly Sweater Jam web link; http://cutnrunband.com/; http://thegexperience.com/, or contact John Howard at [email protected]. You may also call (229) 888-1880.

Seating for the show, which begins at 8 p.m., is limited, so fans are encouraged to arrive early.
