THOMASVILLE — Popular blues/rock outfit JJ Grey & Mofro will be returning to Thomasville this fall as part of the annual Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival at Pebble Hill Plantation.

The Jacksonville band was a huge success at last year’s event, which sold out within a week prompting event organizers to quickly book the band for a repeat appearance. This year’s festival, the 21st such event, is scheduled for Nov. 13, but tickets are already on sale.

The concert, which will also feature an opening set from Parker Millsap, will serve as a capper to a full day of fun at the wildlife festival. The daytime portion of the event, known as Afternoon in the Field, will feature wildlife shows and food vendors from the Red Hills Market and will be set up throughout the Pebble Hill grounds.

“It’s a great honor and pleasure to present the 21st Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival,” said event chair Gates Kirkham. “It is a big win for our community. Not only do we bring some of the world’s finest sporting artists to the Red Hills Region, we are now bringing great music and a family-friendly day with our Afternoon in the Field event at Pebble Hill.

“Folks can watch sporting and wildlife demonstrations during the day and then that evening, JJ Grey & Mofro take the stage. JJ’s southern roots, heartfelt lyrics and soulful voice seem to pair perfectly with not only a fun-filled day, but also our region.”

The event, which is billed as a day and night showcase of South Georgia and North Florida cultural heritage, is presented by Thomas County Federal and all proceeds from the day go to benefit the Thomasville Center for the Arts, which is dedicated to enriching the creative life of the community through visual, performing, literary and applied arts.

Tickets to the Afternoon in the Field, which can be purchased at the gate, are $15 for adults while kids 12 and under can enter for free. Tickets to the concert, which also include admission to the daytime portion of the festival, are $40 and can be purchased through the TCA’s website, www.thomasvillearts.org.

Gates to Afternoon in the Field open at 12:30 p.m., and the concert, which will be held on the Pebble Hill Plantation’s Carriage Circle, starts at 5 p.m. Pebble Hill Plantation is located at 1251 U.S. Highway 319 in Thomasville.
