Beauty

A word we crave

An integral part of Society

Without it, we are nothing

In the eyes of everyone else

We long to achieve

Perfection

An unattainable desire,

The human mind can’t help but yearn for

We have our essentials tools

That can make us new

And so we use them to become

Someone else

Someone not ourselves

We wear our newfound beauty

Like a mask

Hiding who we are

Who we have become

We are too scared to see

Inside of ourselves

To see

The monsters we are

And so we paint over

What we can

The focal point of reality

Turns obfuscate,

A mere distraction of the task at hand

The task

To be imperfectly perfect

And so

The chaos of the outside world blurs

Around the vanity
