Albany, Ga., residents invited to ‘Meet Your City’ at weekend event

ALBANY – The City of Albany is hosting its second “Meet Your City” event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Residents are invited to the Albany Civic Center at 100 W. Oglethorpe Blvd. to hear from 20 city departments, partners and other organizations. The goal is for residents to discover all of the services and resources available to them in the Good Life City.
Attendees also will get to attend a job fair during the event. The city’s Human Resources Department will be available to help with access to the online application where attendees can apply for open positions. Department staff also will host on-the-spot interviews. Jobs may be offered on-site pending a background check and drug screening.
In addition to learning about new resources and the opportunity to apply for jobs, participants can enjoy music, games, food and drink. DJ Dollar Bill will provide music, and vendors like Kona Ice, Bee Smoothie, JC Wingz and San Joes will sell food. The Albany Fire Department and Albany Police Department will provide vehicles for kids to explore.
The city also will give away more than $500 in prizes during the event. “Meet Your City” is family-friendly, and the city encourages the entire community to come out.
