Civil rights veteran Charles Sherrod honored

The city of Albany recognizes a civil rights pioneer during the screening of a documentary about another civil rights leader Thursday at the Albany Municipal Auditorium.

The late Charles Sherrod, a civil rights icon in southwest Georgia, will be celebrated as the recipient of the Dr. Joseph W. Holley Lifetime Achievement Award, along with his wife,  Shirley Sherrod at ASU’s Blue and Gold Gala.
