If you can’t beat the heat, get out and join in on what’s going on in the Albany area. The dog days are here and the kids are counting down the days left before it’s time to go back to school.

When: Saturday, starts at 8 p.m.Where: 932 W. Broad Ave.Poetic Therapy “Rhyme and Release” is holding an anniversary with poets and R&B performeres lined up to perform.

When: Saturday, starts at 10 a.m.Where: Craft Axe, 3292 N. Slappey Blvd.For those too busy for an eight-week league, Craft has arranged a summer marathon league.

When: Sunday, 5 p.m.-8 p.m.Where: Maple Park, 1000 N. Maple St.This community event is for the kids, and will feature raffles, mental health counselors, music, games, bounce houses, free hot dogs and water. A host of partners are onboard to provide a positive movement for the youth.

When: Friday, starts at 6:30 p.m.Where: Albany VFW, 315 Philema Road.Danny the DJ and the Still River Band will provide the entertainment. Proceeds from a raffle will support the organization.Admission: $7.
