ALBANY – Students from Turner Job Corps are making waves in their careers after participating in a shipbuilding hiring event hosted by Huntington Ingalls Industries at the Mississippi Job Corps campus. A total of 12 students from Turner attended the event, and five received exciting job offers to join the nation’s leading military shipbuilder.
Huntington Ingalls Industries, known for building ships that serve the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard, is a powerhouse in work force development and innovation. This hiring event showcased the skills and dedication of Job Corps students, particularly in high-demand trades like welding, electrical and plumbing.
“This was such an amazing experience,” William Morris, a heavy equipment operator student at Turner Job Corps, said. “I’m honored that I got to go, and I’m excited to see where this opportunity will lead me.”
Turner Job Corps provides young adults ages 16-24 with hands-on training and education to prepare them for successful careers. The welding, electrical, heavy equipment operations and mechanics program equips students with the certifications and experience needed to excel in industries like shipbuilding.
