Staff Reports
ALBANY — Beginning today, The Albany Herald is partnering with The Washington Post to provide Herald subscribers with a year of free access to the Washington Post’s digital products.
Here is a link to the signup page for a free year of The Washington Post online.
With this collaboration Herald subscribers will have unlimited access to the Washington Post’s tablet and mobile apps, its website, and newsletters. This premium online access to the Washington Post – a $149 value – will come at no charge to Herald subscribers.
“While we take pride in covering news close to home, The Washington Post’s digital access will give our readers a connection to one of the nation’s top national and international news organizations,” Editor Jim Hendricks said. “The Post has some of the best news coverage and commentary available, and getting that national and world perspective will be a tremendous complement to our focus on metro Albany and Southwest Georgia.
“Many of our readers already are familiar with some of The Post’s columnists on our Perspectives page, which regularly features Charles Krauthammer and Eugene Robinson, along with recently added Michael Gerson and Catherine Rampell.”
Any Herald subscriber who wants to gain the digital access to The Post can go to the home page of The Herald’s website — www.albanyherald.com — and click on the offer. The subscriber will be asked to enter in his or her name, the subscription delivery address and an email at which the subscriber can be contacted.
An invitation to The Washington Post online then will be emailed to the subscriber with instructions on how to access it.
“This is a great benefit that will give the readers of The Albany Herald national news using resources that local newspapers just don’t have,” said Thom Bell, vice president, circulation, for Southern Community Newspapers Inc., parent company of The Herald.
