ALBANY — The Albany Police Department responded to at least two separate assault incidents, one of which resulted in injuries, police reports indicate.
An aggravated assault was reported at 408 S. Van Buren St., Apt. A, at 11:43 a.m. Monday involving Cierra Ward, 26, and Alexis Breland, 19; Monica Jones, 40, and Sheddrick Debruce, 23. A narrative of the report says that officers first made contact with Ward, who stated she and Debruce, described in the report as her boyfriend, had a verbal argument.
Jones and Breland, family of Debruce, came to pick him up and that is when the report indicates the situation became violent.
“Ms. Ward stated (Breland) started arguing with her (and then) she went in the kitchen and grabbed a large decorative glass bottle and hit her with it,” the narrative said. “Ms. Ward stated she was able to partially block this strike. Ms. Ward stated that she and (Breland) began to fight.
“According to Ms. Ward, (Jones) started hitting her as well. Ms. Ward stated she was able to push (Jones) off of her.
The report goes on to say that Debruce came out and attempted to break the fight, but the individuals would not leave. Ward said Breland began getting aggressive again and hit her in the head with another glass bottle, causing a gash in Ward’s scalp, the report said.
Ward refused medical treatment at the scene, and neither Jones nor Breland was at the scene when officers arrived, the report said. Photos of her injuries and the glass bottles were taken for evidence, the report said.
The case was listed as active and there was no indication that any charges had been filed.
Another aggravated assault was reported from 415 Harmon Ave. around noon Monday. An 18-year-old man told police that his ex-girlfriend slashed the left rear tire on his Honda Accord and drove a short distance away before he came outside, at which time the ex-girlfriend jumped out and chased him with a kitchen knife. The man decided not to press charges, the report said.
