ALBANY — An Albany woman was assaulted around 1:21 a.m. on Sunday, the Albany Police Department said in a news release sent to media Wednesday.

The release said officers responded to the 400 block of West Highland Avenue, where a 44-year-old female said that she was walking near the alleyway on the 400 block of West Highland Avenue when an unknown man came behind her.

The victim said when she told the suspect to go away, he told her, “This is the day that you die.” The suspect punched her in the head, hit her in the head with a stick, and took her clothes off. The victim said she screamed for help as the suspect tried to force himself on her.

The victim was able to get away and call the police. The victim said she did not know her attacker and could not provide a description.

This incident is under investigation.
