ALL-AREA BASKETBALL: Herald announces basketball players, coaches of the year

The Albany Herald announces its all-area basketball teams today. Pelham senior and Arkansas signee Briunna Freeman garners the girls player of the year honors after leading her team to the Class AA state semifinals.
Seminole County junior Jordan Harris was a key factor in leading the Indians to their first state basketball title since 1998. He is the boys player of the year.
Americus-Sumter girls coach Sherri Harris, in her first season, helped the Lady Panthers win the Region 1-AAAA title and advanced to the state quarterfinals with a 29-2 record. She is the girls coach of the year.
Calhoun County boys coach Marcus Shaw earned boys player of the year honors, leading his Cougars to the GHSA Class A public school state championship.
