ALBANY — The man wanted in connection to a bank robbery and a shooting last week turned himself in to Albany authorities on Monday.

Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, said that Lashawn Moore, 35, who was wanted in connection with a robbery at PeoplesSouth Bank on North Westover Boulevard on Wednesday and a shooting on Bennington Lane on Tuesday, turned himself in without incident a little before 4 p.m. on Monday.

PeoplesSouth Bank at 701 N. Westover Blvd. was robbed shortly before 10 a.m. last Wednesday by a man who demanded money from a teller. Witnesses told police that after the teller complied and gave him an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled in a dark gray Nissan Altima. No one was injured in the bank robbery, police said.

Around the same time of the robbery, officers were dispatched to 409 Bennington Lane on reports of a probable gunshot victim and found a 19-year-old woman with at least two wounds. Officers learned that the woman’s injuries had occurred about 24 hours earlier, officials said.

The APD later announced that warrants would be issued for robbery and aggravated assault against Moore in connection with the robbery and for the shooting.
