Country Club Estates group endorses Marietta
Incumbent gets backing of neighborhood group in municipal election

ALBANY — The Country Club Estates Civic Club Homeowners Association held a brief ceremony Monday to formally announce the group’s endorsement of Roger Marietta in his quest to retain his Ward IV Albany City Commission seat.
The group’s president, Aaron Favors, said association members met at Country Club Estates entrance to make the formal announcement.
Marietta has been a member of the commission for eight years. He is being challenged by businessman Chad Warbington. Early voting is currently under way for the Nov. 3 municipal election.

Houston, Ford advance in contentious Lee County school board race
According to unofficial election results, challenger George Parrish Houston led the three-candidate field with 534 votes, or 42%, followed by incumbent Donna Ford with 478 votes, or 37.6%. Candidate Lavendra Shootes received 261 votes, or 20.5%.
