ALBANY – Dougherty County Commissioner Anthony Jones has been appointed to his third consecutive term on the national committee for the National Association of Counties.
In his role with NACo, the commissioner said, he will serve as a liaison between the national association and the state organization, the Association County Commissioners of Georgia.
“Mostly my work will be recruiting new members for NACo, young county commissioners who are coming into the organization, and giving them the opportunity to have professional growth and direction,” Jones said. “I will be serving as an ambassador, especially to new commissioners who are coming in, to explore what their role is as county commissioners and explain to them all the professional development that is available to them and encourage them to join NACo.”
In a letter announcing the appointment, NACo President James Gore said that he appointed Jones based on his commitment and dedication to the organization.
“Our strength is in our members, and your active involvement leadership ensures that we continue to be the voice of America’s counties,” Gore said in the letter.
Jones will be eligible to attend NACo’s March legislative conference in Washington, D.C., and the annual conference scheduled for July in Philadelphia.
“This is my third term serving in the national role,” Jones said. “For me, that’s an honor to serve Dougherty County. I’m just glad to serve in that role.”
