ALBANY — A domestic dispute between a husband and wife seeking a divorce resulted in a shooting, officials with the Dougherty County Police Department said.

Reports show officers responded to 3608 Council Road just before 3 a.m. on Sunday. An investigation into the incident showed that the estranged husband, who used to live at the residence, shot his wife in the face, said DCPD Capt. Tom Jackson.

The husband, Artinita Stringer, was in the Dougherty County Jail on Monday afternoon while his wife, Debbie Stringer, was in the intensive care unit at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Authorities had been unable to interview her as of Monday afternoon, Jackson said.

Artinitia Stringer is facing charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The case remains under investigation Monday, Jackson said.
