ALBANY — Five people were injured Wednesday in a two-car accident in south Albany.

Police officials say around 10:30 a.m. Makiba Williams, 48, was traveling south on Van Buren Street in a 2000 GMC Jimmy when she was involved in a collision with Kayla Lockett, 32, driving east on Gordon Avenue in a 2000 Buick Park Avenue.

The SUV left the roadway, officials say, and came to rest in a nearby yard.

According to Albany police, Williams, Lockett and three passengers of the vehicles were transported by EMS to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for observation and treatment. Hospital officials said later that Lockett was listed in good condition, while Williams had been discharged. The condition of other victims was not disclosed.

Williams was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign, officials say.
