ALBANY — While the threat of inclement weather has led city of Albany and Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful officials to postpone the planned Arbor Day tree-planting scheduled Friday at Sherwood Acres Elementary School, the city and KADB will hold the planned citywide Arbor Day planting and beautification project on Saturday.

Starting at 10 a.m., volunteers will plant trees and shrubs Saturday at Hilsman Park at 821 W. Third Ave. During that event, 281 free five-gallon trees will be available. The event is sponsored by Georgia Pacific and the city of Albany Tree Fund.

Volunteers at Saturday’s event are encouraged to wear work clothes and gloves and bring shovels. For additional information, contact KADB at (229) 302-3098.

The tree-planting event at Sherwood Acres will be rescheduled.
