ALBANY – An early morning eruption of gunfire in a nightclub parking lot on Friday that left one man dead and three injured was a gang-related incident, according to the Albany Police Department.

Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler pronounced Daveyon Wakefield, 21, dead at the scene. Wakefield was shot multiple times, he said.

“(They) said a fight broke out inside the club, then the fight came outside,” Fowler said. “Everybody went to their cars and got guns.”

The coroner said that he observed as many as 100 shell casings at the site of the shooting at the 312 Thornton Drive Reflextions Lounge in east Albany.

“It was a lot of shell casings, I’ll put it that way,” Fowler said.

Three other victims in the shooting were transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, police said.

The department asks that anyone who can provide information call (229) 431-2100.
