ALBANY — An accounting firm with a presence in Southwest Georgia is expanding its reach into Albany.
Hutchins Clenney Rumsey Huckaby, P.C., a certified public accounting and advisory firm which has offices in Blakely and Cordele, has entered into a purchase agreement to acquire the Albany-based firm Robert B. Smith CPA, P.C. located on North Westover Boulevard.
The purchase will become effective on Jan. 1, and will represent HCRH’s third location in Southwest Georgia. Robert B. Smith CPA, P.C., was formed in 1985 by Robert “Bobby” Smith and provides tax, accounting and consulting services to business and individuals.
Smith started his career with Mauldin and Jenkins in 1972. He gained additional experience as he worked with firms in Albany, Bainbridge and Valdosta. In 1983, he returned to Albany, a biography on him says.
“Bobby and his team have a long-standing reputation of providing quality service to their clients, and they will add significant value to our firm,” said Adam Hutchins, a partner with Hutchins Clenney Rumsey Huckaby, P.C. “Their dedication to professionalism and client service directly coincide with the core principles upon which HCRH was built.”
There are seven partners currently with HCRH offering accounting services, tax services, consulting and advisory services and audits, reviews and compilations. This includes, among other things, income tax preparation, income tax planning, audits, non-attest services, bookkeeping, payroll services and sales tax services.
“We saw an opportunity to increase our service scope and provide our clients with additional experience, knowledge and resources,” Smith said. “We are very excited about what the future holds.”
Officials say that all employees of Robert B. Smith CPA, P.C., will join the HCRH team and remain at the Albany location.
“Albany remains the hub for professional and business services throughout Southwest Georgia, and we’re excited that Hutchins Clenney Rumsey Huckaby has expanded into Albany, a central market,” said Justin Strickland, president of the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission.
Hutchins Clenney Rumsey Huckaby, P.C. was built on the foundation of two accounting firms with the merger of Hutchins, Clenney, Brown and Hall, P.C., based out of Blakely and Rumsey and Huckaby, P.C., based out of Cordele. Specific industries served through HCRH include agriculture, financial institutions, manufacturing, construction, health care, nonprofit, real estate and hospitality and leisure.
