Joe Bishop honored with service award

ATLANTA — Pataula Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Joe Bishop was recently presented with the Justice Robert Benham Award for Community Service.

Bishop is the chief Superior court judge for the Pataula Judicial Circuit. He is a member of the Judicial Council of Georgia and has served as president of the Dawson Rotary Club, the Terrell County Chamber of Commerce and the Terrell County Heart Association.

He received a bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State University and earned his law degree at the University of Georgia.

Each year the Chief Justice’s Commission, in conjunction with the State Bar of Georgia, presents awards to honor judges and lawyers who have made significant contributions to their communities beyond their official work.

The presentation ceremony was held at the Georgia Bar Center in Atlanta. He was nominated by his former law Clerk, Charles Lamb.
