JOHN BRYANT: Weather Channel skips listing Albany

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

JOHN BRYANT

I read the other day about someone having a pet peeve in The Squawkbox. It was then that I decided that I had one, also.

I usually write something to do with politics, but this time it is about the weather. While I know that I can’t do anything about the weather, especially changing it, I watch the local weather on TV most of the time.

If I am going on an unexpected trip or some other outing, I take a quick glance at the radar on the Weather Channel. My peeve is that the city of Montgomery is written from the center of Alabama all the way across south Georgia, with the letter “y” in the Atlantic Ocean.

If you look close enough, you will find Albany, Ga., behind the letters “go,” but you can’t tell if there is a small red cloud for bad weather. Why can’t someone with clout get them to put Birmingham in the middle of the state of Alabama instead of Montgomery?
