Keeping Georgia Wild Family Fest set to return

The annual Keeping Georgia Wild Family Festival, a community event promoting outdoor recreation and conservation education, is back for another year at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center.
Co-hosted by the Georgia Wildlife Federation, the state Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, FCA Outdoors and the Georgia DNR-Wildlife Resources Division, this free public event invites families to spend the day outdoors together while discovering Georgia’s vast recreational opportunities and learning about the importance of conservation.
Scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 18, the festival promises a day of fun-filled activities for all ages. Attendees will have the chance to explore a wide range of outdoor pursuits, including fishing, archery, shooting sports, tree climbing, birding, astronomy and more. Experienced outdoor experts will be on hand to assist participants as they engage in these activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
“We are thrilled to once again welcome families to the Keeping Georgia Wild Festival, where they can connect with nature, learn new skills and foster a deeper appreciation for our state’s natural resources,” Georgia Wildlife Federation President & CEO Mike Worley said. “With hands-on activities, live animal encounters and informative presentations, our goal is to instill a passion for the great outdoors and empower individuals to feel more comfortable in nature.”
One of the highlights of the festival is the opportunity for the first 500 kids to receive a free event T-shirt, providing a keepsake of their day spent exploring the wonders of nature. Additionally, attendees can enjoy a complimentary hot dog lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or while supplies last, ensuring everyone stays energized for a day of outdoor fun.
To reach the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center, take Interstate 20 to Exit 98 and travel south approximately 11 miles on Highway 11. The entrance will be on the left at Marben Farms Road. Festival signs will guide visitors to the Discovery Area where the event will take place, rain or shine.
