SOCIAL CIRCLE – The Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division has announced the promotion of Lee Taylor to the chief of the WRD Game Management Section.

“I’m thrilled to promote Lee to be our new Chief of Game Management,” Wildlife Resources Division Director Ted Will said in a news release. “His experience in land and game conservation is invaluable to the WRD, and I look forward to seeing him tackle the opportunities that lay ahead.”

Taylor brings 23 years of experience managing public lands to the position. He has been with the WRD for the past 13 years, working as the Game Management Regional Supervisor for Region 3 in east-central Georgia. His expertise includes wildlife population monitoring and habitat management. Additionally, he has extensive experience with a variety of wildlife from endangered woodpeckers to bears and alligators.

As Game Management Section chief, Taylor will direct Georgia’s wildlife and land programs, development of the game management budget and supervise the state’s wildlife management areas. Additionally, he will lead six regional supervisors and two assistant chiefs. He’ll also oversee the drafting of hunting regulations statewide.

Taylor started his career with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission as a Wildlife Biologist. In that position, he coordinated wildlife and habitat management programs. He has a bachelor of science degree in Natural Resource Management from Western Carolina University.
