LEIGH ANNE BJERREGAARD: America must return to godly values
Leigh Anne Bjerregaard
I am about to be politically incorrect, and I am proud to be an independent thinker. On Monday in Cynthia Tucker’s column, “Despite polls, GOP opposes gay marriage,” she attempted to smear many Republicans’ support of traditional marriage. Conservatives, Christians, independents nor Republicans should base their moral foundations based on polling! The mob can be wrong; just ask Jesus! I listened to Martin Luther King’s niece, Alveda King, this morning on Fox News, who called for a return to Godly values. She believes this nation needs true transformation, and repentance.
The Albany Herald’s scripture for that day was Jeremiah 18:7 — “If at any time, I announce that a nation or or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down, and destroyed, and if that nation I warned repent of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned.” If you care about your children, and grandchildren, you may want to read II Chronicles 7:14 and Hosea 4:6!
For those who say this is “Old Testament,” remember that two-thirds of the New Testament is from the Old Testament! Jesus is also the same yesterday, today and forever! (Scripture). “Repent or perish”(scripture) does not leave any gray areas. Voting for pro-life and traditional-marriage candidates is a start. This declining community needs an internal revival instead of the worship of man-made, poll-tested, social justice theology! Wake up, Americans, your community and nation are at risk!
