Liberty House to hold candlelight vigil

ALBANY, Ga. — Liberty House will hold a candlelight vigil Thursday beginning a 6:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the Department of Family and Children’s Services on Oglethorpe Boulevard.

The “Silent Witness Walk” from DFACS to the Veterans Park Amphitheater marks the beginning of the candlelight vigil, which is an annual event held to honor survivors of domestic violence and to raise awareness of domestic violence in the community.

The event will mark the 69 lives that were taken by domestic violence in Georgia. It touts the tremendous progress victim advocates have made over the years to connect with one another in a true sense of unity to end domestic violence.

The event is open to the public and free of charge.

The program in brief:

6:45 p.m. — Silent Witness Walk

7 p.m. — welcome and introduction

7:10 p.m. — invocation

7:15 p.m. — the Freedom Singers

7:30 p.m. — survivor testimonial

7:35 p.m. — Dr. Jovi Brown’s message of hope and inspiration

7:50 p.m. — survivor testimonial

8 p.m. — reading of the names/lighting of candles
