Albany Area Arts Council listed on AmazonSmile
AmazonSmile allows those purchasing on Amazon to contribute to charitable organizations

ALBANY — AmazonSmile helps to benefit nearly one million charitable organizations, and one of the most recent additions to that list is the Albany Area Arts Council.
Officials with the Arts Council encourage patrons and Amazon shoppers to take advantage of an opportunity to help the organization while purchasing gifts for friends and family for the holiday season through AmazonSmile. Donations from a portion of what is spent can be sent to the council.
Amazon donates .5 percent of the price of eligible AmazonSmile purchases to a list of organizations, which now includes the Arts Council. The organization’s executive director, Nicole Williams, could not immediately be reached for comment.
AmazonSmile has set itself up to be an automatic way for customers to support their favorite charitable organization at no cost every time they shop. When shopping at smile.amazon.com, customers find the same prices, selection and shopping experience as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to a selected organization.
AmazonSmile said millions of products are eligible for donations. Consumers will see eligible products marked “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation” on their product detail pages. Recurring subscribe-and-save purchases and subscription renewals are not currently eligible.
On the first visit to smile.amazon.com, costumers will need to select a charitable organization to receive donations from eligible purchases before they start shopping. Amazon will remember the selection, and then every eligible purchase made at smile.amazon.com will result in a donation.
AmazonSmile said customers can change their charity selection. The purchase price is the amount paid for the item minus any rebates and excluding shipping and handling, gift-wrapping fees, taxes or service charges. Existing Amazon.com accounts can be used on AmazonSmile.
