Deployed to Puerto Rico
Lt. Cdr. Monica Hall deployed Friday as a nurse practitioner aboard the hospital ship USNS Comfort, which was proceeding to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to render aid following the devastation of Hurricane Maria.
Hall is a 2000 graduate of Deerfield-Windsor School and a 2004 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.
Basic training completed
Taylor Bennett Richter, of Leesburg, has completed the 10-week basic training course for the Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Richter received the Commanding General Award for Echo Company “Mustangs,” 2nd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment at the Aug. 17 graduation ceremony.
He also was one of five vocalists selected to sing the national anthem for the opening ceremony of the graduation event.
Richter is the son of Dale and Karen Richter of Leesburg.
