Albany Board of Realtors uses annual banquet to help storm victims
Marci Smith Langley named Realtor of the Year

ALBANY — Although the organization honored the outstanding achievements of its members at a small luncheon last week, the Albany Board of Realtors also used its annual banquet to help with Albany area storm recovery.
Because of the impact of January storms that rocked Albany and Dougherty County, the ABOR made the decision to cancel its formal banquet and donated the money that would have been spent to host the event to the Albany Area Disaster Relief Fund.
“Since our community was devastated by the storms in January, the Albany Board of Realtors has worked to help storm victims, both with housing needs and donations,” said a press release issued by board member Dawn Hobby. “Many school children affected by the storm were provided new school uniforms and book bags through Albany Board of Realtors’ donations. The board also donated $500 to Samaritan’s Purse.”
Additionally, ABOR purchased two tickets to the recent Jeff Foxworthy storm relief benefit show and gave those tickets to storm victims who were able to tell their story to Foxworthy firsthand.
Despite not having the annual banquet, the ABOR still took the time to hand out its annual award at the luncheon, at which each table was decorated with carved crosses made from fallen trees.
This year Coldwell Banker Walden & Kirkland agent Marci Smith Langley received the Realtor of the Year award, with Cindy Martins of Re/Max receiving the Professionalism Award.
Needmore Properties agent Christy Wright received the Good Neighbor Award, and 40 area Realtors received the Presidential Achievement Award for closing at least $1 million in real estate sales in 2016.
