Suspect who burglarized home also believed to have stolen a truck from the same residence

ALBANY — Officials with the Albany Police Department said detectives are searching for a suspect believed to be linked to home burglary and motor vehicle thefts reported at the same residence.
A police report said officers responded to the 600 block of Pinecrest Drive for a burglary in progress on Dec. 18. The victim reported seeing a man enter his home on the surveillance footage that monitors his home.
The description of the suspect noted in the report was that of a man wearing black sweatshirt, blue and white jeans, a blue skull cap and white shoes. The responding officers entered the residence and found that the suspect had already left before the officers arrived, the report said.
The surveillance footage revealed the suspect threw a brick through the door window to check for an alarm. When the victim returned to the home from work, it was discovered the suspect had taken a black Glock 9mm handgun, a blue backpack and an undisclosed amount of cash, the report said.
The report on the incident said a witness passing by the location stopped officers and showed a picture of a suspect she saw in the area an hour prior to the burglary that matched the description.
One week later on Christmas Day, officers responded to another call to the residence, this time for a motor vehicle theft.
The report said the victim told officers he woke up around 5:53 a.m. and discovered his 2014 GMC Sierra C1500 was missing. The home surveillance cameras showed an alert. The victim told officers after reviewing the footage he recognized the man from the home burglary incident that occurred the week before.
The suspect approached the truck at 12:04 a.m. and tried to open the door, but fled when the vehicle’s alarm sounded off. The suspect returned at 12:15 a.m., opened the truck door, entered the vehicle and drove off, the report said.
It was also revealed that in the original incident, the suspect had stolen the spare keys to the truck.
