Woman dies on Thanksgiving Day

ALBANY — An autopsy was conducted Monday on a woman who was found deceased early Thanksgiving morning at an Albany motel, Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler said.

Fowler said Christina Amos, 27, was found dead by her husband at the Econo Lodge at 1525 Dawson Road. Fowler said he believes an overdose of drugs may have been involved in the death, noting Amos has a history of rehab. He said the cause of death will not be determined until he hears back from the State Crime Lab, which performed the autopsy Monday.

Albany Fire Department reports said when firefighters arrived at 5:47 a.m., a man was attempting to administer CPR to his wife, who was on the floor. Firefighters took over CPR until they turned the case over to Dougherty EMS when a unit arrived. The coroner was called around 5:55 a.m.

DOUGHERTY COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES: On Sunday, Dougherty County EMS responded to 51 calls. Of those calls, 33 medical type of calls were three chest pain complaints, seven respiratory issues, 13 general sickness complaints, one abdominal pain, one for lift assistance, one for an eye problem, one fainting, three seizures, two mental health issues and one unknown/man down call. Of the trauma calls, there were one overdose, eight auto accidents, three falls, one laceration and two assaults. Of the other calls, three were for medical alert activation.
